Ma Luisa CaleroVaquero

Maria Luisa Calero Cowgirl She is a Doctor of Philosophy and Letters, Professor of General Linguistics at the University of Córdoba, Spain. Currently, she is retired.
Maria Calero was born in a small town in Extremadura; However, in 1970 he moved to Córdoba to continue his studies in Philosophy and Letters. With his arrival he encountered some economic and cultural difficulties that he managed to solve over time. After graduation, she became a professor at the University of Córdoba where she is primarily passionate about linguistic historiography. In this academic environment, Calero detects a masculinization of knowledge. For this reason, one of its main focuses has been the study of the correlation between sexism and language, and the presence of women in Spanish linguistics. His first contact with gender studies was with the linguist Robin Lakoff and her book entitled El lengua y el lugar de la mujer , and over time he drew on other authors such as Maria Angeles Calero, Mercedes Bengoechea, Judith Butler, Esther Forgas , among many others. During one of her many investigations, she questioned the use of the generic masculine in 19th century school grammars for women, alluding that through language women have been excluded and made invisible. Calero is convinced that attention should be paid to these absences of women in different fields to finally highlight their role.
